"Roo Grostein has been a cannabis advocate since his first puff at age 19. While attending Humboldt State University in 2008, he began his “career training” in cannabis, becoming a California Prop 215 medical grower. Almost a decade later, Roo landed in Southern Oregon as the recreational market was poised to launch. From 2015-2018, as GM of Talent Health Club, a multi-award winning dispensary, he successfully oversaw the tumultuous transition from medical to recreational markets. It was here Roo gained a radical passion to support the survival the craft cannabis industry as prohibition comes to an end.
When the opportunity to obtain his own soapbox presented itself in the summer of 2017, he jumped and Local Smoke Radio on KSKQ 89.5fm Ashland & 94.1 fm Medford was born. Recently, Roo left the airwaves to enjoy the freedom of offering the show in Podcast format to connect the world to Oregon’s most important cannabis production region, the Rogue Valley.
Roo currently focuses time on his wife and daughter and the Local Smoke Podcast. He writes a column called “Don’t Smoke the Messenger” for the Rogue Valley Messenger, the regional alternative paper in Southern Oregon. His day job is with TKO Reserve, one of the premier hemp & cannabis brands on the West Coast.
As a serial cannabis entrepreneur, Roo is ever involved in other media production, consulting and the endless possibilities of cannabis."
